What is required to file for divorce in Michigan?
Michigan law requires that you have been a resident of Michigan for at least 180 days and a resident of the county in which you file, for at least 10 days immediately preceding the filing.  A divorce action is started by filing a Complaint for Divorce in Circuit Court.  If you have minor children, there will be a 6 month waiting period before your divorce can be finalized.  If you do not have minor children, your divorce can be finalized after 60 days.  All divorces end with a Judgment of Divorce.
